Main Street Tax Credit Incentive Program
Putting your B&O Tax dollars to work in Downtown Kennewick!
Since 2005, the Main Street Tax Credit Incentive Program has provided Business & Occupation (B&O) tax or Public Utility Tax (PUT) credits for contributions given to eligible downtown revitalization initiatives in the state of Washington. After receiving approval from the Department of Revenue, a business may receive a credit for 75% of the value of a contribution made to an eligible Washington Main Street Community or 75% of the value of the contribution made to the Main Street Trust Fund.
The Main Street Tax Credit Incentive Program (MSTCIP) provides a Business & Occupation (B&O) or Public Utility tax (PUT) credit for private contributions given to eligible downtown organizations, like the Historic Downtown Kennewick Partnership.
Once your business’ donation request is approved by the Department of Revenue, you are eligible for a tax credit worth 75% of the contribution to your downtown revitalization organization. Designated Washington Main Street Communities are eligible to receive contributions through this state tax credit program.
This program lets you essentially lets you self-direct your business taxes to Downtown Kennewick revitalization and the downtown community!
Businesses statewide can donate up to $250,000. Further, if your downtown organization is a 501(c)3 you may be eligible for a federal income tax deduction as a charitable contribution.
