Avenue Square:
Our Outdoor, Third-Place Activation Project

More than just a parking lot, Avenue Square (formerly known as Flag Plaza) sits at the heart of Historic Downtown Kennewick and is the current home to our Food Truck in Residence, Hot Mess Burgers & Fries.

We activate this lot all year long with our community events, like the SOCO Creative Arts Festival, and each holiday season, this Avenue Square becomes “Santa Square” as the hub of holiday fun during our Hometown Holiday Parade.

We make this space available to pop-ups and outside entrepreneurs and organizers to program the space. In 2025, BAGG Books will pop up roughly once a month with a bookish activation in partnership with Hot Mess and other downtown businesses.

    Hot Mess Burgers & Fries is a locally owned and operated food truck.

    This self described Rebel Resturant” operated 5 days a week in the heart of historic Downtown Kennewick in Avenuw Square.

    Known for their epic burgers like the Monster Mess and the Hot Mess, they also have an impressive chicken sandwich and chicken strip basket.

    They bake their buns fresh, daily. They make their own sauces and chesse for their burgers.
