JD’s Time Center is located at 105 W. Kennewick Ave.

JD’s Time Center is a treasure trove of unique items from fun, classic games, to toys, activities, sundries and the answer to the above riddle… clocks!

Jim and Merrianne got started with the idea of opening their own business by Jim’s background in clock repair. Jim’s dad was a jeweler and watchmaker and Jim apprenticed under him on repairing clocks and watches since he was very young. After spending years mastering the work, Jim and Merrianne decided they wanted to branch out into selling clocks and repairing quartz watches. With a leap of faith, they ventured out to start their own store.

Their store is located in a historic building that used to belong to the Beste’s and has a harness and tack store before becoming a tire and parts store. The Door’s carry on the downtown Kennewick tradition of operating a locally owned business in a historic building that is as much about the new as it is about appreciating and repairing what is old and classic.

“Downtown has been truly a community neighborhood for us. We have been able to get to know our neighbors, get involved in events and just feel at home”, says the owners.

Many businesses have felt the harsh effects of the stay home order due to COVID-19 and Jim and Merrianne have felt the impact as well.

“We have missed our neighbors, our family and our customers.”

But the hardest part for Jim an Merrianne is not being able to help those who rely on their watches such as EMTs, nurses, police, and customers who are blind and need their talking watches to work. Times are hard for many during this difficult situation but Jim and Merrianne are keeping their hopes up and doing their part.

“We hope the community will come out and support all small businesses that this [COVID-19] has impacted so very much. If we can open anytime soon, we ask people to:

  • Follow distancing rules

  • Excuse our gloves/masks [PPE]

  • Come in only a couple at a time, so that we can assure they are all safe.

We will do our best to serve our customers. We know that money will be tight and it may not be easy to spend, but we hope those that can, will find some of our very special things to their liking. We pride ourselves on lovely items you won’t find just anywhere.”

Merrianne and Jim’s continued support of the downtown and their community was honored with the Downtowner of the Year for 2013. Seven years later, Jim and Marrianne Door and their business, JD’s Time Center, is an exemplary standard of continued community support. We are honored to have them in the downtown.

Jim and Merrianne would like the public to know that they will open as soon as they possibly can and are looking into ways to help you with curbside or other possibilities, they will let the public know when these options are implemented.

“We love our customers, we love downtown, and we urge you to support your neighbors and small businesses and keep on being safe. We will get through this together.”
